Fans of the critically acclaimed animated series Bob’s Burgers will be delighted to hear that TV’s favourite burger-flipping family is coming to the big screen next year. The show’s official Twitter handle made the announcement on 11 September, revealing the film’s poster and adding that the film will hit the “flippin’ theatres” on Memorial Day weekend in 2022. “Let’s get this PATTY started! The #BobsBurgers Movie, coming to theaters Memorial Day weekend 2022!” read the tweet.

The movie will chronicle the lives of the Belcher family and retain all its original cast members, including H. Jon Benjamin who voices Bob Belcher, the family patriarch and head chef of the family-run restaurant. John Roberts will play Linda Belcher, Bob’s wife and mother to Tina Belcher (Dan Mitz), Gene Belcher (Eugene Mirman) and Louise Belcher (Kristen Schaal).

The film’s initial July 2020 release was pushed back due to the pandemic. It was originally rescheduled for April 2021 before Disney completely removed it from its upcoming release schedule.

Not much is known about the plot of the film but creator Loren Bouchard has dropped some subtle hints over the years. In 2019, Bouchard responded to a fan tweet asking why Louise always wears pink bunny ears with, “movie”. Well, we can safely assume that the mystery will be uncovered in the film. Bouchard has also previously stated that the movie will reunite Louise with her beloved nightlight Kuchi Kopi inside her fantasy world.

While we wait for the film, we can all look forward to the show’s 12th season which will premiere on 26 September.
