Nine more women have accused infamous comedian Bill Cosby of sexual assault. In a lawsuit filed in Nevada, America, the nine women allege that Cosby “used his enormous power, fame, and prestige” to drug and assault them in encounters spanning 1979 and 1992. They claim that he assaulted them in homes, dressing rooms and hotels across Nevada. The allegations were levelled two weeks after Nevada eliminated its statute of limitations in such cases. Prior to this, victims had to approach the civil court within two years of an alleged assault.
Since 2005, when the first lawsuit of sexual assault was made against Cosby, more than 60 women have come out with allegations. Some of the women involved in this case have made public accusations against him in the past. Former model and TV star Janice Dickinson even testified against Cosby previously, stating that the comedian’s alleged assault of Andrea Constand in 2004 wasn’t a one-off instance.
“It is disappointing to see that these alleged distractors are able to monetize false allegations against Mr. Cosby,” Cosby’s spokesperson told NPR. “The Merson Law Firm along with these alleged distractors are fueling false narratives for the potential of media fame and greed. Mr. Cosby continues to invoke his Constitutional Rights by saying, ‘Not Guilty’ and vehemently denying all of these alleged allegations waged against him.”
