Challenges are a big part of being active on Instagram. Inktober for artists and fitness challenges for athletes are just a handful of ways people keep their page active and gamify their content. Inspired by this, comedian Masoom Rajwani has kicked off his own 100 day challenge where he’ll post a century of one-minute-long jokes over the span of the next three months.

The comedian first made the announcement on 5 September and has gone live with the first joke this morning. “These are not going to be topical jokes,” Rajwani told us yesterday as he was figuring out the edit for the first reel. “These are just setup-punchline jokes. I’m also going to mention two things in every video—the fact that I’m doing 100 reels in 100 days and also which day I’m on so people can go check out the previous uploads.”

Another motivator for Rajwani was putting the plethora of jokes he had accumulated in the nine years of been doing standup comedy to good use. Even though he’s been a part of the scene for almost a decade, the comedian only dropped his first set of standup videos on YouTube this year. “I have been trying to record these videos for a while but I wanted it to look different,” he told us. “I didn’t really want to record at the usual comedy clubs but I have a lot of archival footage from recordings that I attempted anyway. So, these are jokes that aren’t really a part of any particular set. They are just structured jokes that I wanted to use instead of simply discarding them.”

The oldest recording Rajwani has pulled out is from 2019 and the latest one is from two months ago, so it’ll be interesting to see how much the comedian’s craft evolved over the course of time. This is also going to be a way for Rajwani to stay active on social media and in turn promote the last leg of his upcoming tour Taboo Talk.

“It’s also just a way of me keeping myself accountable,” he said. “If I miss a day, those trolls will have something to shame me with.”

So whether you’re a fan or a troll, keep an eye on Rajwani’s page and get a daily dose of laughter!
