It’s easy to get lost in the doom and gloom of the headlines as we remain locked up inside our own homes. But, despite the pandemic and our slow slide into authoritarianism, there is still much to smile about in the world. Like the 2020 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, which announced its 44 hilarious, relatable finalists last weekend.

The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards were founded by photographers and conservationists Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullan in 2015. The aim is to promote the conservation of wildlife, while also celebrating the funny, silly and ridiculous things that Earth’s critters often get up to.

The winners will be announced at an online awards ceremony on 22 October. Till then, we’ve selected ten of the most chuckle-worthy entries for you. Our favourite is Terry The Turtle, who represents everyone’s mood in 2020. Which one do you like the best?
