It’s back. The second season of Biswa Kalyan Rath’s Laakhon Mein Ek drops on 12 April. It was announced an hour ago through a teaser, ‘Courage knows no gender’, starring actress Taapsee Pannu:

And then confirmed by the creator and comic himself on Instagram:

The Indian web series created by Biswa Kalyan Rath premiered on Amazon Prime Video in October 2017. Season 1 followed the slow and gritty story of Akaash (Ritwik Sahore), a student who’s dying to drop everything and become an internet star, but is instead sent to a coaching centre in Visakhapatnam to prepare for his IIT entrance exam by his father. Kalyan himself starred in this season as a professor at the coaching centre.

Season 2 of Laakhon Mein Ek stars Shweta Tripathi (Mirzapur, The Trip) and follows her story—she plays a doctor, Dr. Shreya, posted in Sitlapur village to conduct a cataract camp. Between untrusting villagers and a dodgy medical team, the story explores personal conflicts as she tries to fight and change the system before the system changes her. Kalyan will star in the series again, but his exact role has not yet been revealed.

Update: The trailer for Laakhon Mein Ek, Season 2 just released and we’re already hooked. The intense world of Dr. Shreya and the seemingly organised chaos around her cataract camp meddled with political agendas is gripping. Caught between a forceful rural posting, an unhygienic amenities, non-responsive populace, and illegal dealing of medicines, there’s quite a bit on her plate. Watch for yourself:
