Veteran comedian and actor Eddie Murphy will star opposite Jonah Hill in Netflix’s upcoming comedy feature, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The untitled film will also reunite Murphy and his Coming 2 America co-writer Kenya Barris (of black-ish fame), who will step behind the camera to mark his directorial debut. No other cast members have been announced as of yet.

Hill and Barris co-wrote the script for the comedy and will be stepping in as producers as well. Hill will produce the film under his Strong Baby banner in partnership with Barris’ Khalabo Ink Society. Also producing is Kevin Misher of Misher Films.

The film will be executive produced by Mychelle Deschamp and Hale Rothstein for Khalabo Ink Society, Strong Baby’s Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin and Andy Berman of Misher Films.

Not much is known about the plot of the film but Hollywood Reporter described it as “an incisive examination of modern love and family dynamics and how clashing cultures, societal expectations, and generational differences shape and affect relationships.”  Murphy and Hill will “find themselves on opposite sides of some of those divides.”

Murphy first collaborated with Netflix in 2019 by starring in the successful biopic Dolomite Is My Name, ending a brief hiatus from films. The comedian last starred in the highly anticipated 2021 comedy Coming 2 America and is currently working on a sequel for his hit 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop.
