Hannah Gadsby’s third comedy special Something Special will premiere on Netflix on 9 May. Shot in the Sydney Opera House in September 2022, the special is a culmination of the comedian’s Body of Work tour, which they performed in 55 cities across 16 countries.

Directed and produced by Jenney Shamash, who is also Gadsby’s wife, Something Special is a feel good set about “a wedding (theirs!), more than one traumatic encounter with a bunny, and much more,” according to Netflix’s press release.

The special comes nearly two years after Gadsby criticised Netflix’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos for defending transphobic jokes in Dave Chappelle’s The Closer.

Gadsby is also working with the streaming platform to curate a multi-comic special featuring LGBTQ+ comedians from different countries.
