Lilly Singh, popularly known by her YouTube alias ||Superwoman||, announced in March on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that *drum roll* “your girl is getting her own NBC late-night show!”
The 30-year-old Indian-Canadian will be the first woman to host a late-night show on a major national broadcast network (NBC) in more than three decades. Replacing Carson Daly, the show is all set to launch today, 16 September 2019 as A Little Late With Lilly Singh (we totally saw that alliteration coming).
Amongst all the late-night talk shows currently on-air, not only will this be the only one hosted by a woman, but by a woman of colour, who also recently calendar out as bisexual—so this is a big one for representation and inclusivity. Bagging the 1.35 am EST slot, Singh is ecstatic and so is Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Nick Jonas, who took to Twitter to congratulate her.
With a strong following of more than 14 million followers just on YouTube, you can be sure all eyes will be on Singh tonight, watching her navigate a whole new world – one little late night at a time. More power to you, Superwoman!
