Amazon Prime Video is bringing their LOL franchise to Tamil with LOL Tamil: Enga Siri Paappom, which premieres on 27 AugustThe format of the show will be unchanged, with ten contestants pitted against each other for six consecutive hours with only two objectives—to make their competitors laugh while not letting out so much as a quiet giggle yourself. The last one standing will take home the LOL title and a cash prize of Rs. 25 lakh.

The unscripted show was shot before the passing of South Indian comedy legend Vivek earlier this year, who hosted the show alongside actor Shiva. The lineup for LOL Tamil: Enga Siri Paappom showcases famous comedians, actors and RJs from the South including Comicstaan Semma Comedy Pa runner-up Syama Harini, Baggy aka Bhargav Ramakrishnan, RJ Vignesh Kanth, Maya S. Krishnan, Abhishek Kumar, Premgi Amaren, Harathi Ganesh, Sathish, Pugazh and Powerstar Srinivasan.

DeadAnt got in touch with Syama Harini to ask her what fans can expect from the show. “I think this is a one of a kind show in South India. Of course it has come in Hindi but this is the first time such a show is being released in the South and the viewers can expect a lot of fun,” she told us. “Although we’ve seen other comedy shows I think this is unique because we’ve done a lot of crazy stuff.”

Shot between the two COVID-19 lockdowns in the country, the show had to follow all the pandemic-related regulations to carry out the shoot successfully. “We did have a lot of challenges with respect to the COVID-19 protocol but the production people were extremely helpful and friendly and made the entire process a lot of fun.”

Talking about the lineup for the show Syama said, “There was so much to learn during the shoot. I was working with new artists who are mostly comedians in TV and cinema. I was very excited to work with these people because they are the big comedians in their various fields.”
