After 17 years on air, BBC’s comedy panel show Mock The Week is finally coming to an end. Since its inception in 2005, the show has produced over 200 episodes and has been a launch pad for iconic panelists like Frankie Boyle, Zoe Lyons, Ed Byrne with comedians Sarah Millican, Jo Brand, Russell Brand and Katherine Ryan regularly featuring as guests.

Long-time host and comedian Dara O’Briain said, “That’s it folks, the UK has finally run out of news. The storylines were getting crazier and crazier-global pandemics, divorce from Europe, novelty short-term prime ministers. It couldn’t go on.” Despite the cancellation, creator Dan Patterson offered fans a glimmer of hope via a tweet, “It’s been announced that the next series of Mock the Week will be the last after 17 great years on the BBC. Desperately disappointing but hopefully we will resurface again soon. Huge thanks to Dara and Hugh and all the wonderful performers over the years. It’s been a privilege.”

The final eight episodes of Mock The Week will air between September and December on BBC 2 and BBC iPlayer.
