In a cool flip we don’t see very often, Sapan Verma’s Amazon Original show One Mic Stand has been recreated for a German audience with comedian Teddy Teclebrhan at the helm. One of the first Indian formats to be adapted in a foreign language, the German show will also see five unexpected celebrities try standup for the first time on stage, mentored by Germany’s top comics.

“The show is all about exploring what prominent personalities from across various fields find funny—the situations they face daily and finding humour in it in hindsight—as well as giving audiences a chance to see them get on the stage and try something new for the first time,” Verma said in a press release. “I am beyond thrilled to see that the format we created has resonated and been recreated internationally. This not just puts One Mic Stand on the global map, but it goes to show how the Indian comedy scene at large has come a long way to being recognised globally!”

One Mic Stand has completed two seasons in India featuring big names across Bollywood, politics, journalism and music trying their hand at comedy including Shashi Tharoor, Vishal Dadlani, Taapsee Pannu, Faye D’Souza, Karan Johar, Raftaar and Chetan Bhagat.

As we wait for hints of a third season of the OML-produced show, you can watch both versions of One Mic Stand now on Amazon Prime Video. Prost!
