We haven’t seen much standup comedy from Sapan Verma this past year, but that’s because he’s been busy bringing newer voices to the art form. The EIC member is back with the long-awaited second season of his series One Mic Stand, where celebrities from different walks of life try their hand at standup comedy. Verma revealed this year’s mentors—which include Sumukhi Suresh, Neeti Palta, Atul Khatri, Samay Raina and Abish Mathew—and dropped some major hints about the guest lineup in a teaser trailer yesterday.

This morning, the comedian disclosed this year’s student-teacher pairings in an Instagram post. In a classic turning-the-tables scenario, Verma will be giving Karan Johar his first break in standup this season. The iconic Bollywood director will be mentored by Sumukhi Suresh. Neeti Palta will be helping Sunny Leone craft classic zingers, while Atul Khatri and Faye D’Souza will team up to dish out some “only positive punchlines”. The student becomes the master this season with Samay Raina teaching Raftaar how to use his words to get laughs at top speed. Lastly, Abish Mathew will guide Chetan Bhagat in his journey to write jokes.

After last year’s successful season which featured Bhuvan Bam, Vishal Dadlani, Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha and Shashi Tharoor we can’t wait to see what the newbie comedians have in store for us this time!
