Format shows are all the rage today in Indian standup comedy. Only in the last two months, we’ve seen Gaurav Kapoor and Swati Sachdeva launch their shows Lie Hard and Who Let The Drunks Out respectively. These are additions to the already rich world of concept shows in the Indian comedy scene that also includes Madhur Model, First Move, Assisted Dating and BroCode Roast. Yesterday, Rahul Dua threw his hat in the format show ring with Pitch Please.
The show will see business owners pitch their ideas to a panel of “sharp successful business minds” in addition to comedians. Dua aims to add some levity to the world of business by introducing comedians into the mix. “Hum aapse puchenge real sawaal,” Dua said in the announcement video. “Probably wahi jo customers actually mein soch rahe hain.”
The show will be filmed in front of a live audience who will give real-time feedback to the business owners about the practicality and efficacy of their products, apps or services. “No fake hype, no nonsense. Just real feedback from real people,” said Dua.
“There’s no promise of investment, but if our panel loves what you are building we might just get back to you,” added Dua.
Applications for the show are now open. Participation is limited to Indians currently, Dua clarified in the comment section. “Once we go big and successful, we’ll come overseas,” he promised.
