If you’re tired of rewatching Border, Rang De Basanti and Lagaan every Independence Day, comedian Punit Pania is here with an alternative. Earlier today, the comedian took to Instagram to announce that he’ll be releasing his second standup special titled Gainfully Employed on YouTube. The 100-minute-long special, in which Pania waxes poetic about the years he spent working in a corporate setting, is his longest set yet and is now live.

Last year, Pania released his politically charged debut special No Country For Moderation (also available on YouTube). However, he tells us his latest special predates last year’s release and includes some of the first jokes he ever wrote.

“First special always hits different but actually this is an older show than No Country for Moderation,” he told DeadAt. “It has some of my earliest jokes from when the corporate life was still fresh in my mind.”

Pania had previously decided to release the special as smaller sets to ensure activity on his YouTube channel and “please the algorithm gods”. But he also felt the need to make the show available in its entirety for people to enjoy. Et voila!

“I am happy with the way Gainfully Employed has come out,” he added. “We wanted a club setting for this one. No Country covered broader concepts and was more sweeping in its scope so an auditorium seemed like the right setting. Gainfully Employed is more slice-of-life and the jokes are more club-fare.”
