DJ and Dancer Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss died by suicide on Tuesday, as reported by TMZ. Boss was a known face in the entertainment industry thanks to his popularity as resident DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. By 2020, he was also the co-executive producer on the variety comedy talk show.

Boss rose to fame thanks to his participation in the American dance reality competition So You Think You Can Dance, where he ended up as a runner-up and also met his wife Allison Holker Boss. In 2022, he returned to the show as a judge. Boss also appeared in many successful films and shows, including Magic Mike XXL, Modern Family and Step Up: All In.

In a statement to PEOPLE, his wife, confirmed his demise.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us, Stephen lit up every room he stepped into,” she wrote. “He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.

To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt, I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children. Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”

Ellen DeGeneres, who worked with him since 2014 paid a tribute on Instagram.

Celebrities paid their condolences.
