The Television Academy revealed the nominations for the 77th Emmy Awards yesterday. Comedy fans can rest easy because The Bear has been outdone by The Studio this year. Starring Seth Rogen, Ike Barinholtz, Catherine O’Hara and a slew of big-named cameos, the Apple TV+ show bagged 23 nominations, tying the record for the most nominations for a comedy series in a single year. The honour was previously held solely by The Bear for raking in 23 nominations in 2024.

The Studio‘s nods accompanied with Severance‘s 27 nominations (the most for a series this year) and a few more for Shrinking brought Apple TV’s tally up to 81. But they were left in the dust by HBO Max’s 142 total nominations, a personal best for the platform. Meanwhile Netflix landed the second spot with 120 total nominations.

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be aired on 14 September with comedian Nate Bargatze hosting the ceremony.
