Shreeja Chaturvedi dropped a cryptic message on Instagram earlier today, seeking fashion advice for an upcoming taping for an OTT platform that “rhymes with rhyme.” Well okay, that’s not really cryptic at all is it?

The comedian will share the stage with Aadar Malik, Ramya Ramapriya and Shankar Chughani for A Live Variety Show at Mumbai’s Famous Studios on 13 March. Chaturvedi’s announcement made us wonder if the great pandemic content drought was finally nearing its end. We did some digging, and it seems things are looking up for Indian comedy fans.

With travel restrictions easing, comedians Rahul Dua and Prashasti Singh have been working on their sets at trial shows across the country, and even overseas. Meanwhile, Aakash Gupta has announced a new solo show Excuse Me Brother, which hits the road starting 28 February. Word around the water cooler is that some of these shows might lead to some big releases in the coming months.

India’s leading chess streamer Samay Raina (who still does comedy, in case you forgot) has also dropped multiple not-so-subtle hints on his recent live-streams about a possible upcoming special. Fans who have been eagerly awaiting his videos on YouTube have been asked to wait a little longer for something “much bigger” than a 10-minute clip.

All in all, standup comedy fans in the country may have a lot to look forward to this year.
