Vir Das is arranging a series of charity shows in the wake of the three-train collision in Odisha that killed 275 people and injured more than 1100 others on 2 June. YouTuber Ajey Nagar (popularly known as CarryMinati) has already conducted a charity livestream.

In a post uploaded on Instagram yesterday, Das announced that he is organising charity shows in Mumbai, the proceeds of which will be contributed to those affected by the train crash. The comedian requested his followers to share “organisations who are accountable, responsible and doing actual work on the ground”.

Meanwhile, Ajey Nagar hopped on YouTube for the Pray For Odisha Train Accident livestream, donating the entire proceeds to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Government of Odisha. He was able to raise a total of INR 13,37,612 yesterday, which included an INR 1,50,000 contribution of his own. Nagar has committed to redirecting further donations as they come in as well.
