Comedian and filmmaker Vir Das has announced his next directorial project, a found-footage horror film titled Baara Number, marking a shift in genre after his spy-comedy debut Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos. The film will be co-directed with Kavi Shastri and is expected to go on floors in Mumbai later this year under Das’s banner Zazu Productions.

According to a press release, Baara Number is intended to move beyond conventional horror tropes, blending psychological depth with atmospheric storytelling, said a press release. Das will also appear on screen as part of a multi-character ensemble cast in the film.

The project marks Das’s first outing in the horror space as a director further widening the scope of his work.
