World Parents Day: Funniest Comedy Clips About Parental Quirks

By DA Staff 1 June 2023 3 mins read

On World Parents Day, sit with your mum and dad to watch these clips that call out their cute little idiosyncrasies and share a laugh at their expense (for a change).

Spread the love

Parents are a gift that keeps on giving. First off, they gave you life (and will use that fact to emotionally manipulate you every chance they get). They keep you from killing yourself out of stupidity and tolerate all your adolescent tantrums. If you’re lucky, they also give you opportunities to follow your dreams and passion. And if you’re a comedian they give you tons of material which in today’s world of #relatable content is priceless.

So, today on World Parents Day, sit with your mum and dad to watch these clips that call out their cute little idiosyncrasies and share a laugh at their expense (for a change).

Karunesh Talwar Has ‘Ajeeb’ Parents

Karunesh Talwar’s parents are often at the centre of his jokes. He’s mined their nuggets of wisdom for memorable comedic bits over the years which served as the backbone for his Amazon Prime Video special Aalas Motaapa Ghabraahat.

But on this occasion, we’re going back even further to Talwar’s first-ever video on YouTube. It dropped six years ago and even then the comedian didn’t let his parents off easy. In this 5-minute clip, his parents’ ajeeb behaviour is the topic for discussion. Talwar is talking about the poetic zingers that come his way every time asks his parents for something. And then comes his inner monologue, which no Indian kid would ever dare say to their parents. Check it out!

Jeeveshu Ahluwalia’s Analysis Of Indian Parents

We’ve all had to hear stories about our parents’ childhood and not because they were reminiscing about the good times. They always use them to remind us about how we have it better. And sure we do. Nobody I know had to do the equivalent of The Amazing Race to get to school. Jeeveshu Ahluwalia is tackling precisely these stories and our progenitors’ knack for turning any situation into a roast of their children in this clip.

Going by Ahluwalia’s bit, his parents turned up the savagery quotient every time he brought home a potential partner. And guess who has four thumbs and doesn’t understand the concept of “too much information”? Watch the entire video to find out!

Shashi Dhiman’s Parents Cosplay As Wingmen

There are a couple of things that all parents wish for their children. A good job, steady life, healthy diet. But the one thing that tops most lists is the m-word which starts being thrown around the minute you have a degree and a laughable income—marriage. We’ve heard of profiles being put up on matrimonial sites to speed up the process. But Shashi Dhiman’s parents are keeping up with the times.

In this clip, the comedian shares the hilarious anecdote of finding her father on Tinder. Why was he there? To find his daughter a suitable boy. But that was a long shot, given the bio that Dhiman came across. Her parents must have come across the concept of exotic wagers because Mumma Dhiman was widening the sample size on another website. We can’t do this one justice, you have to hear it from Dhiman.

Shreeja Chaturvedi’s Parents Are Royalty

Most kids grow up thinking that they’re the special ones. The world is their oyster and everything is theirs for the taking, because that’s how their loving parents raised them. Shreeja Chaturvedi had a similar upbringing where she thought she came from royal lineage. However, her Indian parents couldn’t keep up the charade for too long.

Amongst all the things in Chaturvedi’s line of fire the one that hits closest to home is her father’s obsession with a defunct refrigerator. We all have that one piece of technology that our parents just won’t part with (he wrote as he stared at a stereo older than himself). Her father isn’t the only one to take a hit in this 10-minute clip though. Chaturvedi has some things to say about her mother’s choice of breakfast and let me tell you, if you despise upma this one is for you.

Kanan Gill’s Parents Struggle With Technology (Like All Others)

“How do I take a screenshot?” “How do I cast YouTube on the TV?” “Why is the WiFi not working?” These questions are probably in some manual about how to be a parent because honestly, I can’t believe the entire parental community collectively can’t get a hang of technology. Kanan Gill’s parents are no exception.

In his Amazon Prime Video special Keep It Real, Gill has a routine about his parents’ struggle with technology. The comedian gets a call from Sr. Gill… who asks him to check his WhatsApp? You might think, “Big whoop. Maybe he wanted his son to urgently check his message.” Well, we’ll call that and raise you an image of his mother holding up an iPad with the image they wanted him to see. It’s just a lot of confusion and that’s where Gill’s best humour resides. You have to watch him act out this entire scene.
