Netflix has announced a bunch of comedy titles coming up, but the two we’re most interested in are Zakir Khan’s Papa Yaar and Sumukhi Suresh’s Hoemonal—largely because we’ve actually watched both of these specials live multiple times through their touring years and can vouch for them.

Papa Yaar is out 18 September and sees Zakir Khan tracing his relationship with his father, childhood memories and the particular emotional complications of growing up and eventually realising your parents are just people too. Yes, he remains very good at making you laugh before quietly making you feel something you didn’t ask to feel. Call your dad already.

Hoemonal, meanwhile, is “coming soon”. Sumukhi Suresh has been hinting at this for ages now, and here we have it. Her special tackles womanhood, relationships, getting older and the general business of being a person whose hormones, allegedly, have their own agenda. Laugh, cry, find an endocrinologist.

So if you were wondering what to put on your comedy queue: Zakir on September 18, Sumukhi soon, and then a whole lot of funny, familiar chaos coming down the pipeline.
