Indian-American comedian Zarna Garg’s debut standup special Zarna Garg: One In A Billion is all set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 16 May. The streaming platform announced the upcoming special on its official Twitter account, writing “We love @ZarnaGarg, and we’re not afraid to tell her! ” 

The special—which was filmed at New York City’s Gramercy Theatre—will showcase Garg channelling her kindly but ruthless Indian mother aesthetic as “the punch lines come fast and furious”. 

Garg—who first rose to fame on TikTok and Instagram with her content about immigrant mothers in America—has become a notable figure in the standup scene after winning the comedy reality show Lyft Comics. Produced by Kevin Hart, the show featured up-and-coming comedians telling jokes while disguised as Lyft drivers. Garg will be touring with the special across the United States for the next two months.

In addition to standup comedy, Garg was also part of Apple TV’s Gutsy starring Hillary and Chelsea Clinton. Garg’s other accolades include the 2021 Ladies of Laughter Award and a nod from the Austin Film Festival for her screenplay Rearranged with the Best Comedy Prize.
