After Nikki Glaser and Conan O’Brien made heads turn with their performances as hosts at the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards respectively (with both hosts returning in 2026), we have another comedian joining the mix. Nate Bargatze will be emceeing the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on 14 September this year.

โ€œItโ€™s a huge honour to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and Iโ€™m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world,โ€ Bargatze said in a statement.

Bargatze sold over 1.2 million tickets in 2024, making him one of the highest selling comedians of last year, according to Pollstar, a trade publicationย for live events. In addition to performing at sold-out venues, Bargatze also hosted Saturday Night Live twice, where he came up with the viral 2023 sketch Washingtonโ€™s Dream. And to tie a neat little bow to his achievements package, Bargatze also has a Grammy nomination to his name. His Netflix special The Greatest Average American was nominated for the Best Comedy Album in 2022.

He’s been a part of iconic sketches, has three Netflix specials to his name and come on as a guest for memorable appearances on Conan, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA.
