Spread the love

Earlier this morning, the 82nd Annual Golden Globes were underway at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California, a month after the nominees were announced. Ali Wong’s Netflix special Single Lady came out on top in the standup comedy category’s sophomore year. She was up against Jamie Foxx (What Had Happened Was), Adam Sandler (Love You), Seth Meyers (Dad Man Walking), Ramy Youssef (More Feelings) and the host for this year’s ceremony, Nikki Glaser (Someday You’ll Die).

The French musical Emilia Pérez starring Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana, which bagged a record-breaking 10 nominations, won four awards including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. HBO Max’s Hacks was named the Best Television Series – Musical Or Comedy and Jean Smart’s work as Deborah Vance on the show earned her the award for Best Performance By A Female Actor In A Television Series – Musical Or Comedy. Jeremy Allen White bagged his third consecutive Golden Globe for leading the FX series The Bear.

Glaser didn’t hold back any punches during her debut as the host for the award ceremony, taking jabs at Timothy Chalamet’s facial hair, Zendaya’s role in Dune: Part Two, Ben Affleck and disgraced rapper and media mogul P Diddy. “The afterparty is not going to be as good this year,” she quipped. “But we have to move on. I know the Stanley Tucci freak-off does not have the same ring to it. No baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.”

The ceremony was live streamed on Lionsgate Play in India and is still available to watch.
