Andre Braugher, best known for portraying Captain Raymond Holt in hit comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine died on Monday after a prolonged illness, reported Variety. His publicist confirmed his passing.
Braugher’s stoic and no-nonsense persona on Brooklyn Nine-Nine made him an instant crowd favourite. An anti-thesis of Andy Samberg’s upbeat and goofy Jake Peralta, the duo gave us some incredibly memorable moments.
In his 34 year career, Braugher bagged 11 Emmy Nominations (four for his role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and won two—one for Best Lead Actor for his role as Detective Frank Pembleton on NBC’s Homicide: Life in Street and another for Outstanding Lead Actor in A Movie or Miniseries for his portrayal of Nick Atwater in Thief.
Rest in peace, Captain. Nine-Nine!
