India’s comedians and streamers have stepped up once again to raise funds for people in this time of need. The ‘Mask On India’ charity stream, held on 25 April on Mithilesh ‘MythPat’ Patankar’s YouTube channel, raised a staggering Rs.51 lakh for the fight against this devastating COVID-19 second wave.

Some of the biggest names from Indian comedy and YouTube including Tanmay Bhat, Samay Raina, Abish Mathew, ‘GamerFleet’, Kusha Kapila, Dolly Singh, ‘Saiman Says’ and ‘BeYouNick’ participated in this fundraiser hosted by Patankar and the famous ‘Slayypoint’ duo of Abhyudaya Mohan and Gautami Kawale.

“The experience for me was warm and comfortable,” Mathew told DeadAnt. “And with Slayy Point, MythPat, the entire team of Villager Esports and such a star-studded line up, I was just surprised they wanted me at all,” said the comic. “The stellar work has led to such huge donations from their fans,” he added.

Comedians Samay Raina and Munawar Faruqui gave the fundraiser a head start by raising Rs. 1.5 lakh through a live-stream on Raina’s YouTube channel on 24 April. All the proceeds from the charity stream—powered by Indian esports company OPGaming and organised by Opraahfx and Villager Esports—are going to be donated to the Hemkunt Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that aims at providing basic amenities and aid to the marginalised sections of society.
