After raising over Rs. 50 lakh for COVID-19 relief in 2020, Vir Das has stepped up once again with a series of shows to raise funds for charities helping those affected by the pandemic. Titled Vir Das At Home, the proceeds from the first two shows—held on 1 & 2 May—will be donated to the Doctors For You charity, which runs 15 COVID-19 hospitals across the country, as well as the Mumbai Dabbawala charity who are delivering food to the dabbawalas of Mumbai.

“Very happy to announce we raised about 7 lakhs for both our charities, and also made 200 doctors and nurses laugh this weekend. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets. We will make sure the money gets to those who need it.  #VirDasAtHome,” Das wrote on Twitter.

The comedian announced two more shows for 8 and 9 May, both of which were sold out within minutes. This time around the proceeds will go to the Hemkunt Foundation—which provides unlimited oxygen to COVID patients through their drive-thru initiative—and free ambulance service HelpNow 24×7. Another set of shows on 15 and 16 May will raise funds for children and animals orphaned by the pandemic.
