The Scottish comedian dropped into two Bengaluru comedy clubs for surprise late-night sets

This Sunday, Scottish comedian Daniel Sloss completed his three-city India tour—his third visit to the country, brought to you by Deadant’s The Loop—with two back-to-back sold out shows in Bengaluru. We laughed, we cried, we wondered if he’d do bare-chested push-ups again (#IYKYK).

But that wasn’t all Sloss got up to in India’s IT capital this weekend. On Saturday night, after landing in Bengaluru, Sloss decided to pop in unannounced at two of Bengaluru’s busiest comedy rooms—Underground Comedy Club and The Ministry of Comedy—for surprise late-night sets.

Audiences who thought they were in for a regular weekend lineup suddenly found themselves a few feet away from one of the world’s biggest touring comedians. The crowd of hardcore comedy fans—who else would be in a comedy club at 1.30 am on a Saturday?—went wild as Sloss walked onto the stage, delivering sharp, off-the-cuff sets that felt like a rare, intimate encore to the official tour.

It was Sloss’ way of showing love and support to the scene, and a chance for comedy fans who missed out on tickets for the main shows—they really did sell out quite fast—to catch their favourite comedian in action. Bengaluru, already a powerhouse for live comedy, now has another bragging right: “Oh, that time Daniel Sloss dropped in after hours.”
