The 2024 Summer Olympics have just ended in Paris, after 17 days packed with athletic action and podium-finish drama! This was the pop-culture Games, where Olympians became viral social media stars not just for their achievements on the track, but also their looks, their attitude, and their everyday silliness.

Take for example the South Korean shooter Kim Yeji, whom the internet hailed as dripping with โ€œmain character energyโ€, or the Turkish pistol shooter Yusuf Dikeรง whose casual shooting stance made him the hottest meme format for the last week. Chinese gymnast Zhou Yaqin proved she knew exactly what she was doing when she clinched second place in the womenโ€™s balance beam event. And then she got on the podium and everything fell apart. A video of Yaqin getting on the podium and watching her Italian counterparts biting down on their medals and proceeding to try it out herself is one of the funniest clips to come out of the games.

And One Man Became Addicted To Muffins

Norwegian swimmer Henkrik โ€˜The Muffin Manโ€™ Christiansen went viral for his generous review of the muffins served at the Games. They โ€œwere just so incredibly deliciousโ€ said the swimmer, who has been making viral TikTok videos about his favourite treat since. If you didnโ€™t know him then, you definitely know him now!
