Jamie Foxx is set to finally open up about the medical emergency that put him in the hospital last year, as part of an upcoming comedy special for Netflix.
The Oscar and Grammy-winning actor and comedian was hospitalised in Atlanta in April 2023, due to an unspecified “medical complication” while shooting for Netflix film Back In Action. Foxx has still not shared the official cause of his illness. But in a video from July, he was seen telling a small group of people in downtown Phoenix that it all started with a “bad headache”. Foxx then asked a friend for an Advil, and woke up 20 days later with no memory of what happened.
Foxx had also teased his upcoming comedy showโand the reveal about his health scareโthis March while being honoured by the African American Film Critics Association. โWeโre gonna get back to the stand-up sort of roots,โ Foxx said at the time, adding that the show would be called What Had Happened Was, and would deal with the health scare and its aftermath.
He shared more details about the show via Instagram on Monday, in a post announcing three dates from October 3-5 in Atlanta. โJoin us for an unforgettable one-man show as Jamie Foxx takes the stage to share his journey through a serious health scare, filled with humor, heart, and inspiration!โ says the post’s caption. โExperience Jamie Foxx like never before in this intimate and engaging performance, as he opens up about his struggles, triumphs, and everything in between. Get ready for a night of laughter, reflection, and genuine connection.โ
