Standup comedy has been on the rise globally as one of the top forms of entertainment in the last few years. Naturally with this change, comedians are slowly morphing into the new age superstars. They’re promoting upcoming releases, acting in TV shows and movies, making USD 100 million dollar deals for podcasts and selling out massive arenasโsome of them twice in under 10 minutes. If there’s so much work happening, there’s bound to be a lot of money. And it shows with a certain American comedian’s net worth sitting at USD 1.1 billion (INR 9,300 crore).
Forbes‘ most recent list of wealthiest Americans stated that Jerry Seinfeld’s net worth surpassed that of any actor in Hollywood or Bollywood. The creator and star of the incredibly successful sitcom Seinfeld is still cashing in royalty checks over 30 years after its premiere. It is estimated that he rakes in USD 100 million annually just from the show.
Additionally, a Bloomberg report suggests that he has made a whopping USD 465 million from syndication deals and an additional USD 94 million for selling the streaming rights to Netflix. Additionally, his standup specials and performances bring in another USD 100 million.
That makes Seinfeld richer than some of the biggest stars in the world including Shah Rukh Khan, Tom Cruise, Dwayne Johnson and Robert Downey Jr.
