Kapil Sharmaโ€”whose popular series The Kapil Sharma Show (TKSS) went off the air this July after five seasons on TVโ€”has teamed up with Netflix for a new comedy show. The comedian, who also released his 2022 debut special I’m Not Done Yet on Netflix, will return to the streaming platform for a “fresh, new and an exciting comedy extravaganza to his fans around the world”, according to a Netflix press release. The new show will also feature TKSS regulars Archana Puran Singh, Rajiv Thakur, Kiku Sharda and Krushna Abhishek, all of whom featured in the announcement video that Netflix India shared on Instagram this morning.

โ€œPata hai kya, Kapil ka naya pata?” read the post’s caption. “Sharing the good news on our family group because Kapil & the gang are coming soon to Netflix!โ€

โ€œKapil Sharma is a huge entertainer whose legacy and comedy has made him a household name across India for many years,” Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content, Netflix India said in a statement. “Weโ€™re incredibly proud to further our partnership with him and bring the King of Indian Comedy, alongside his beloved and well-known castmates, to Netflix for an all-new comedy show.”

TKSS had been a consistently popular show since it made its debut in April 2016. Some of the biggest Indian pop culture icons have been a part of the show’s run, as well as comedians and comedy influencers including Anubhav Singh Bassi, Abhishek Upmanyu and Kusha Kapila. The fifthโ€”and finalโ€”season of the show premiered in September 2022 and wrapped up this July. After the show ended, the cast also went on a successful tour of the United States, bringing their humour to the live stage.
