Comedian Manjeet Sarkar has finally dropped his debut YouTube comedy video, titled Dalit’s Gangajal. In the 10-minute clip recorded at Bengaluru’s Underground Comedy Club, the comedian takes aim at India’s caste system and recounts his lived experience of untouchability. Sarkar also pokes fun at his interactions with journalists, and reminisces about his performance at the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Bangkok last year.
“It’s a big day, you know,” Sarkar told DeadAnt. “A YouTube video is something every comedian wants to drop once they start doing comedy. I’m pretty stressed but also excited to know what people think. I feel like this is a topic that no Indian comedian has touched upon. So automatically the topic and meโboth untouchable.”
