If January is any indication, you’re in for a year of back-to-back announcements for new specials, tours, tapings, movies, tv shows and even book launches. Here's everything in one place.

The comedy biz just doesn’t sleep! After an action-packed 2024—with its blockbuster format shows to epic sold-out tours—the comedy scene wasted no time getting off the starting block in 2025. If this month is any indication, we’re in for a year full of exciting new specials, tours, tapings, movies, TV shows and even book launches. But no need to start an Excel sheet to track everything in the pipeline in 2025. We’ve got you.

Here’s a quick roundup of everything that’s been announced (so far) this year. We’ll keep making updates so keep checking in!

Upcoming Releases

Hularious Specials

American streaming service Hulu premiered Hularious—a string of standup specials by some of America’s top comedians—on 22 November, 2024 with Jim Gaffigan’s The Skinny. Other comedians whose specials are slated to release this year include Bill Burr, Chris Distefano, Jim Gaffigan, Ilana Glazer, Jessica Kirson, Matteo Lane, Sebastian Maniscalco, Atsuko Okatsuka and Andrew Santino.

Sahil Shah – Broken

Six years after the release of his debut standup special Childish Behaviour, Sahil Shah went on tour with his new, deeply personal hour titled Broken. “In the show I talk about our collective deteriorating mental health and what we can do to survive as the most tired generation aka Gen Ex-hausted,” he told us before going out on the road. After workshopping the material and taping it in November last year, Shah revealed that he’ll be releasing the special “soon”. It’s all a waiting game now.

Liza Treyger – Night Out

Liza Treyger’s debut hour Night Out is slated to release on 28 January on Netflix. Treyger has previously released two half-hour specials for Comedy Central and for Netflix’s stand-up collection The Degenerates.

Aaditya Kulshreshth aka Kullu To Star In ‘Loveyapa’

Aaditya Kulshreshth aka Kullu has made his mark in Indian comedy as part of Tanmay Bhat’s meme reaction series on YouTube, a writer for shows such as Farzi Mushaira and with his solo comedy show Smooth Kullu Smooth. Last year, he also got an acting credit to his name with a cameo on Zakir Khan’s Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare. In 2025, Kulshreshth is set to make his film debut in the Junaid Khan-Khushi Kapoor starrer Loveyapa.

Amy Schumer – Kinda Pregnant

Amy Schumer’s latest feature film Kinda Pregnant is set to release on Netflix on 7 February. This will be Schumer’s second role in a feature for the streamer following Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut Unfrosted.

Happy Gilmore 2

Adam Sandler’s incredibly successful sports comedy Happy Gilmore is set to get a long-awaited sequel. The teaser for the film dropped recently. It’s currently unclear when we’ll see him back on the greens.

Freakier Friday

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are set to make a comeback as the mother-daughter duo we all fell in love with on Freaky Friday. Set to release on 8 August, we will see the two stars reprise their roles in the long-awaited sequel. However, we’ll have to wait till release day to figure out who’s doing the body-swapping this time.

Good Fortune

Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut feature Good Fortune will hit the theatres on 17 October. Another life-swap comedy, the film stars Ansari, Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer.

The Naked Gun

Cult comedy franchise Naked Gun, which parodied police procedurals and starred legendary comedian Leslie Nielsen, is set to make a comeback this year. This time around, Liam Neeson will play the protagonist Frank Drebin Jr. alongside Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand and rapper Busta Rhymes. Seth Macfarlane of Family Guy and American Dad! fame has written the story. The film is scheduled to release on 1 August.

Upcoming Tours

Zakir Khan’s ‘Papa Yaar’ Tour & Madison Square Garden Performance

Zakir Khan will be treating his fan’s to his new hour Papa Yaar, starting 17 January. The show will explore the unsaid aspects of every Indian son’s relationship with his father. Besides that, Khan is gearing up for the biggest show of his life. The comedian will be performing at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York on 17 August.

Abhishek Upmanyu – Toxic (Final Leg)

In April last year, Abhishek Upmanyu kicked off his Toxic Tour. He’s on the final leg of the tour now with shows scheduled from 18 January to 2 February. He’s also announced a 22 February show in Dubai. So in case you’re in the Gulf that weekend, you know what to do!

Kanan Gill – What Is This?

After going on an extensive book release tour in 2024, Gill returned to standup comedy with his new show What Is This? The comedian is hitting the road once again one more time with shows slated from 17 January to 7 February. Confused about what the show is all about? Check out this reel!

Atul Khatri – Well-Trained

“After the success of my last standup comedy special Daddy Kool announcing my new show Well-Trained,” Atul Khatri wrote on Instagram on 1 January. He is prepping to hit the road in February and will be travelling overseas with the show as well.

Aakash Gupta – Daily Ka Kaam Hai

Last year, Aakash Gupta sold over 5,000 tickets for his new show Daily Ka Kaam Hai in Mumbai alone. He’s ready for round two—this time with a tour planned across India, United States and United Kingdom.

Samay Raina – Unfiltered

Samay Raina really levelled up in 2024 with the success of his format show India’s Got Latent and his solo hour Unfiltered. We at DeadAnt caught the show live last year and gave it two enthusiastic thumbs ups. Raina has announced one more 8-city India tour of this hour. He will also be jetting off for a USA and Canada tour. So catch him live while you can!

Angad Singh Ranyal – Mid-Life Ghabrahat

While we get to see Angad Singh Ranyal channel his inner commentator while cricket season is in full swing (geddit?) on his YouTube show Baby Over, he’s now returning to the stage with the second leg of his solo comedy show Mid-Life Ghabrahat. The comedian will be performing in 9 cities starting 18 January.

Prashasti Singh – Divine Feminine

Last year in December, Prashasti Singh announced her brand new hour Divine Feminine with six shows in London. This month she’s setting off on her India tour. Get your tickets here.

Anubhav Singh Bassi – Kisi Ko Batana Mat

Anubhav Singh Bassi has been touring with his show Kisi Ko Batana Mat since July 2023. When we caught him live last year, Bassi had everyone in splits as he regaled us with stories from his school days, his time in law college and a hilarious love story. People have clearly not had enough because the comedian has gone on to announce a 23-city tour that begins on 17 January. Yeh cheez sab ko batana.

Other Stuff

Zarna Garg – This American Woman

Zarna Garg has had a whirlwind career, winning Kevin Hart’s comedy reality show Lyft Comics, landing her debut standup special One In a Billion on Amazon Prime Video and opening for Amy Poehler and Tina Fey on their Restless Leg tour since 2021. She’s telling us her story in her memoir This American Woman which is available to pre-order now.

CBS has also announced Zarna, a multi-camera comedy that will trace Garg’s journey from immigrating to the United States, completing her education, working for 16 years as a stay-at-home mom before pursuing a career in comedy.

Samay Raina Teams Up With Seedhe Maut And Rohan Cariappa To Create ‘The Soundcheck’

Samay Raina, rap duo Seedhe Maut and YouTuber Rohan Cariappa are teaming up to create a rap reality show titled The Soundcheck. The show is their attempt to make a “genuine rap reality show” where contestants do not need to sign any post-show contracts. It is rumoured that the show will be uploaded on Raina’s newly-launched India’s Got Latent app.

Bill Maher – Is Anyone Else Seeing This?

“I almost called this special You Won’t Feel Safe, because if you’re purely a team player in American politics, you won’t,” Maher said in a statement. “This one is for the 80% of Americans who want to see crazy called out no matter where it comes from. And the last 20 minutes on my sex life, that’s for everybody.” The special is available to stream on JioCinema.

Ari Shaffir – America’s Sweetheart

Ari Shaffir closed a two special deal with Netflix in November last year. The first special titled America’s Sweetheart is set to premiere on 14 January. This will be the comedian’s second special after 2017’s Double Negative.

Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias – Legend of Fluffy

In 2024, comedy legend Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias’ Don’t Worry Be Fluffy tour raked in USD 43 million, making it the third highest grossing comedy tour of the year. He began 2025 with similar energy, dropping his fourth standup special titled Legend of Fluffy on Netflix.

Roy Wood Jr. – Lonely Flowers

As part of Hulu’s Hularious specials, Roy Wood Jr. released his fourth standup special Lonely Flowers. The special is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
