At a recent stop on her troubled Ellen’s Last Stand…Up tour—which has already had four shows unexpectedly cancelled—comedian and actor Ellen DeGeneres told the audience that she was done with fame. During a Q&A with the audience at the show in Santa Rosa, California, she told fans that she will retreat from the public eye once she wraps up her final shows on the tour, which will be filmed for a new Netflix special.
“This is the last time you’re going to see me,” DeGeneres said to a fan who asked if she would return to movies after the tour ended, Variety reports. “After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
The comedian’s long-running series The Ellen DeGeneres show was cancelled two years ago after staffers complained of a toxic work culture on set, including allegations of racism, sexual misconduct and intimidation. DeGeneres has used the tour—her first since 2019—to address these allegations, joking that she got “kicked out of show business for being mean.”
“I am many things,” she added during the Santa Rosa Q&A. “But I am not mean.”
The Ellen’s Last Stand…Up tour runs through August, with 14 more dates lined up including shows in Chicago, Minneapolis and Durham.
