Following a Change.org petition signed by 1 million fans, Amazon Prime Video has just signed Kanan Gill and Biswa Kalyan Rath for an eight-part series of Pretentious Movie Reviews.
“Fans are relentless in their hopes and dreams, and our employees received over 500,000 emails from Change.org that refused to filter through our spam folder,” an Amazon representative said. “It was just easier to pay for copyright licenses of 60 movies people have forgotten about, ignore Kanan and Biswa’s concerns about their solo careers, and not care for the series’ potential redundancy and repetition. Fans come first.” Trying not to panic, the comedian-duo is now crowdsourcing suggestions for movies to cover. Please drop your suggestions in the comments section.
He also expressed concern over Indians boycotting the wrong thing if Amazon Prime Video didn’t take quick action. “In the race to punish us, we were worried Indians would create the wrong hashtag campaign,” he explained calmly. “The Amazon rainforest represents over half of the planet’s remaining rainforest. To have the largest population boycotting it would be hazardous to the environment. The Amazon just can’t afford to take that kind of hit. It’s not SnapChat.”
