Comedian, actor and former rabbi Jackie Mason passed away on Saturday evening at the age of 93, after being hospitalised for over two weeks. Mason was best known for his wit and sharp social commentary which he delivered in his trademark ‘amused outrage’ style.
Mason won numerous accolades over his 50-year-career, including a Special Tony Award and three Emmy Awards for his one-man show The World According To Me! and for voicing The Simpsons character Rabbi Hyman Krustofski, Krusty The Clown’s father.
Mason’s humour heavily relied on puns and innuendos which sometimes came across as politically incorrect, and more than once landed him in hot water over his use of racial slurs.
Comedians across the world took to social media to pay tribute to the comedy star.
