Standup comedian Sarat Uday’s show in Bengaluru was disrupted on 25 April after a group of people reportedly affiliated with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) interrupted his performance. The disruptors had taken offence over jokes he had made nearly two years ago about Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh in a video uploaded on YouTube. The comedian had issued a public apology for the jokes after facing backlash.

The group entered the venue shortly after the show began and demanded that Uday apologise again for the remarks, reported Free Press Journal. Videos circulating online show the confrontation escalating, with attendees allegedly verbally abusing him and insisting on an on-stage apology.

The incident took place at Ministry of Comedy, a venue in Bengaluru’s Koramangala area and briefly interrupted the performance before the show resumed. The disruption follows similar complaints and police action against other comedians who performed material involving politicians from Andhra Pradesh’s ruling parties. Comedian Anudeep Katikala was detained on 14 April over jokes referencing actor-politician and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and members of his family.
