DA Weekly Roundup: Home Remedies For Your Laughing Dead Withdrawals

By DA Staff 27 March 2023 3 mins read

DeadAnt Weekly Roundup features the best standup comedy videos and vlogs released on YouTube in the last week.

Spread the love

The dust has settled after Laughing Dead and we’re back to the grind. We would love to say that we only like live comedy with a side of a shirtless Daniel Sloss (#IYKYK) now but who are we kidding? The two day festival which consisted of shows Kendall Roy would definitely describe as “all bangers all the time” has actually resulted in a state of withdrawal that could only be fixed by some more standup. *angelic sounds from the heavens* Enter, YouTube clips that were uploaded over the last week.

We bring you a fresh batch of the DeadAnt Weekly Roundup, where we highlight the latest and greatest standup clips to hit the YouTube algorithm. So go get yourself a cold beverage of your choice and hit play.

Mohit Morani – My Heart Attack Story

Mohit Morani has levelled up his game in 2023. His fourth release in 3 months, Morani has clearly been hitting up every stage he possibly can. A regular feature on our weekly roundups, Morani has tried his hand at a new genre of comedy in this new clip—dark humour.

Titled ‘My Heart Attack Story’ the clip opens with a cautionary warning about the subject matter, something that every comedian should consider doing in our country regardless of the content. Morani begins by discussing his struggles with mental health and his inconsiderate friends. He eventually gets to the meat of the routine, discussing some close details about his health and personal life, a side of him he has rarely spoken about thus far.

Mohammed Hussain – Angrez Ki Aulaad

Mohammed Hussain was probably too caught up with his writing projects to get on stage but we’re glad he’s finally back at it. In his first release after almost a year, Hussain is back in action with ‘Angrez Ki Aulad’.

In the 10-minute clip, the comedian is unpacking our collective colonial hangover and love for anybody who can string together a sentence in English. There are multiple things we could say to put us a notch above white people. We have flavourful food, Virat Kohli, SRK, Naatu Naatu. But Hussain has something else in mind. We’ve got cleaner butts and the comedian is incredibly proud of that. Check out the video and share it on your family WhatsApp group to show #patriotism.

Atul Khatri – Why I Hate Sangeet Functions

It has been a minute since Atul Khatri uploaded any standup to his YouTube channel. A quick scroll on his timeline will tell us that the last standup upload was in 2019, after which he took on the responsibility of spreading some smiles with his series ‘Only Positive News’ during the devastating COVID-19 lockdowns. Well, the wait is finally over.

In his latest upload, Indian standup’s resident cool dad and Grateful Dead fan is ranting about sangeets. And if your timelines also transform into matrimonial site knockoffs around December, you’ll relate to everything he’s talking about. From cringe hashtags, to staged photo-ops and choreographed dances that belong in a big-budget blockbuster, all of this ridiculousness amounts to very little. Especially since most people just want to know two things about your sangeet guys—when does the bar open aur non-veg milega kya?

Shridhar Venkataramana – Mumbai, Bangalore & The Ukraine War

Another comedian who had been MIA from the YouTube scene for a while has made a comeback in the last week. Shridhar Venkataramana finally remembered his password and treated us to a video of his trademark political humour and subtle but hard-hitting satire.

Addressing the issues with performing political comedy in our country, Shridhar makes a tactical yet hilarious shift and aims his crosshair at Salman Khan. Not the wisest choice given Bhai’s fanbase but when in the hands of a skilful comedian, a great joke. According to the comedian, Khan is the reason for Mumbai’s constant zeal to excel at things. How? Check out the full video to find out. Spoiler alert: There’s a lot more in there.

Rahul Subramanian – Crowd Work in London

Rahul Subramanian has big things in the pipeline. The comedian announced the release of his first-ever crowd work special Rahul Talks To People which will drop on Amazon Prime Video on 30 March. So, just as a little appetiser, the comedian has also blessed us with a clip from one of his crowd work shows in London.

Subramanian has honed his crowd work skills in the ring and it shows in this short 6-minute clip. He’s quick with his jokes and has an air of familiar ease when he’s bantering with the audience members. In this particular clip, the comedian has unearthed the secret to a successful marriage. Check it out to find out!
