If you’re anything like us, Tay Tay’s breakup has been hard and you are in dire need of some serotonin. Just when you thought she found true love (in a hopeless place? that’s a different artist, sorry), she proved us wrong and now there will be more teardrops on our guitars. But well, every cloud has a silver lining. At least we’ll get another album out of it. But that’s going to take some time. So while we wait for the songs that will be overanalysed by literally everyone in the world, here are some videos to turn your frown upside down.
Yes, you guessed it right. We’re back with another edition of DeadAnt’s Weekly Roundup, where we highlight the top comedy videos to have dropped on YouTube.
Pratyush Chaubey – Meri Inter Caste Marriage
It had been a hot minute since we’ve seen any activity on Prayush Chaubey’s YouTube channel. One of Indian comedy’s OGs, we were starved for Chaubey’s smooth storytelling which has always been laced with sharp commentary about society. And we’re glad to report that the comedian’s latest release did not disappoint.
Titled Meri Inter Caste Marriage, Chaubey dials it back to the time when he and his wife decided to break it to their parents that they were ready to tie the knot. Generally a moment of happiness but if it was all smooth sailing, would there be a set about it? Chaubey has the audience gasping for air between laughs but doesn’t miss the opportunity to dish out some social commentary about one of India’s most deeply rooted problemsโcaste.

Harman Preet Singh – Stop Eve Teasing Me
Another comedian has thrown his hat into the YouTube ring and his name is Harman Preet Singh. A part of the Yuck Collective, he’s been on our radar for quite some time now. Singh’s 12-minute video is a fitting debut for people to get a taste of his humour.
From the looks of it, he’s got the Bangalore style down, churning out jokes at a ratatat rhythm. Singh starts off by talking about the infamous Bangalore autorickshaw-walas and their confused delight when this Sardar starts talking to them in Kannada. “Agar beer bottle mein paani milega toh kaisa lagega?” Now, that’s how you paint a picture with words. Without giving too much away, Singh has some thoughts about the way people look at Sardars and India’s one true loveโcricket.
Check out his first video and add another name to the list of comedians to look out for!
Gaurav Kapoor – SASTA SPLITSVILLA
We won’t blame you if you’ve forgotten that Gaurav Kapoor’s claim to fame is his standup comedy. The comedian who took up vlogging during the lockdown has stuck by his guns and amassed a massive following. From taking us behind the scenes at comedians’ weddings to documenting the numerous trips he takes in a year, Kapoor has been uploading videos more often than your younger sibling has been annoying you.
But this time we aren’t talking about a vlog. It’s his latest crowd work video titled Sasta Splitsvilla. One of the early adopters of the format, Kapoor has an ease and rapport with his audience that most artists would die for. We’ve seen the comedian take interest in people’s relationships previously but this time he’s levelling up and playing wingman. Look out, Seema Taparia. You’ve got some serious competition!
Atul Khatri – Indian Marriage & Chinese Inflation
Atul Khatri is making up for all this time he was MIA. His second upload in less than a month, this time around, Khatri is breaking all the myths about marriage. Titled Indian Marriage & Chinese Inflation, Khatri points out how people become world-class players of connect after marriage. Don’t know what we’re talking about? Well, the comedian seamlessly shows us how world affairs like Chinese inflation and the Russia-Ukraine war are all connected to a married couple’s bedroom. Yes, we agree, this might have raised more questions than answers. Guess you’ll have to check it out for yourself!
Mark Normand – “Iโm Nervous, Insecure and Squishy”
In a blast from the past, Comedy Central has uploaded Mark Normand’s mini-special from almost 10 years ago. His appearance on The Half Hourโa showcase for up-and-coming comedy talentโit’s a treat to see how this comedy maverick has always been in top form.
You can tell this one’s from way back when because Normand’s talking about using… Facebook? Yeah, that would happen only if you were in 2014 or if you’re a boomer (no offence). He’s also sceptical about Google and has a great premise for the next Black Mirror episode. But you can trust him to deliver the LOLs. Treat yourself to some “comedy!”. #IYKYK
