It’s been seven years since Robin Williams passed away, leaving a gaping hole in the world of comedy. Time and again we find ourselves rewatching old classics and standup routines to witness that little spark of magic the legend had in him. Now, actor and writer Jamie Costa is trying to make his pitch for a Robin Williams biopic.

In a clip uploaded on 12 October titled Robin Test Footage Scene—which has hit 3 million viewsCosta plays a young Robin Williams on the set of Emmy-nominated sitcom Mork & Mindy. The video opens with a typically energetic Williams running lines in front of a mirror when Pam Dawber, his co-star at the time (played by Sarah Murphree) gives him news of John Belushi’s passing. The news comes as a shock to the young Williams who spent the previous night with the SNL alumnus.

“No, I told you, I was with him. John’s not dead, I was with him last night,” says Jamie’s Williams.

It’s uncanny how spot-on his mannerisms and voice inflections are throughout the 5-minute video as if it were the comedy legend saying the lines himself. A tense and emotionally charged scene where Williams tries to recite his lines after hearing the news comes to an end with a knock on the door asking him to return to the set. And just like that, with the snap of a finger, he’s back to the bubbly energetic goof that he was.

Costa’s depiction of Williams is being celebrated by fans all across the globe who are asking for a biopic starring him in the lead role. An absolutely stunning performance, it comes very close to Jim Carrey’s depiction of Andy Kaufman. We’ll just have to wait and watch if the fans get what they have asked for.
