On Monday, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed against Anubhav Singh Bassi for allegedly humiliating the lawyer community in his special Bas Kar Bassi. Advocate Farhat Warsi—who appeared in person as a petitioner—cited a YouTube clip from the standup special which details Bassi’s experiences as a young lawyer, claiming that it portrays the community poorly.

“What’s this? Why should we entertain this against some standup comedy show? Come with something better,” said Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia. “Let other lawyers take care of themselves. You don’t have to defend the entire community. You take care of yourself.”

Finally, the Court noted in its order that it found no merit in the petition and dismissed it.
