Watch: 5 Ways Comedians Are Ringing in Cheer This Christmas

Spread the love

The holidays are always a stressful time, but it’s feeling harder than usual to mainline candy and prance about in tinsel this year. The world is burning, our hearts are aching and it’s getting hard to breathe. But if you’re taking a quick pause to recharge and reset, here’s are 2019’s attempts at sneaking in a little cheer this season.

1. Boys II Menorah with James Corden

Boyz II Menorah just dropped “this Hanukkah’s hottest song”! Boy band members include James Corden, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Josh Peck, Charlie Push and Zach Braff belting out A Week and a Day.

2. 60 Comedians for Charity

Remember Live Aid’s We Are The World? Ok, so Christmas Magic is basically that. With 60 comedians. Singing a painfully honest song with hard truths about “the trainwreck known as Christmas”. Written by comedian and musician Avery Pearson, the proceeds from each download on Apple Music/play on Spotify/Pandora go to charity Comedy Gives Back, which supports comedians in need (medical, mental health, substance abuse, crisis management) in the United States.

Like they so succinctly put it: See ya next year, I’ve got horse tranquillisers on my wish list.

WE GOT ONE PLANET, SO LETโ€™S CUT DOWN ALL THE TREES AND PUT โ€˜EM IN OUR HOUSES.

3. A Very Terry Christmas

WHAT STRAIGHT SORCERY IS TERRY CREWS? Cosying up with the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star and America’s Got Talent host in his living room watching him paint a (beautiful, wtf?) Christmas tree is not the kind of thing that’s ever crossed our mind… so there was no way to tell if we’d be into it. But it was a meditative experience. All 45 minutes of it. This is from last year, but we’re bumpin’ it up. If you’re into ASMR videos, you’re about to have a very merry Christmas indeed.

“I’mma add golden buzzers to my tree!’

4. ‘The Office’, voted Best TV Christmas Sitcom

According to a UK-based poll by a listings magazine, the The Office Christmas Specials (the two-part series finale-episodes) of the British mockumentary comedy television series were voted Best TV Christmas Sitcom. Yes, the British version but don’t @ us if you preferred Steve Carrell’s Michael Scott. Christmas is as good an excuse as any to rewatch those episodes too. And when in doubt, you can always watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S for the 300th crore time.

5. Mariah Carey is Back, on The Late Late Show

Mariah Carey is to Christmas what Falguni Pathak is to Dandiya. So of course she’s back. Here she is with Oh Santa, hitting those high notes hard on The Late Late Show.
