DA Weekly Roundup: It’s Raining Jokes In These Latest YouTube Clips (But Can It Actually Rain Also?)

By DA Staff 20 June 2023 3 mins read

DeadAnt Weekly Roundup features the best standup comedy videos and vlogs released on YouTube in the last week.

Spread the love

Alexa, play I’m Back by Eminem because we’ve returned with another DA Weekly Roundup. Consistency is the name of the game and we’re really killing it, aren’t we?

We’ve got crowd work. We’ve got gym bro roasts. We’ve got MBA jokes. We’ve got memes. We’ve got an hour-long collection of videos good enough for you to record your own laugh track to. So without wasting any more time, let’s jump right in!

Munawar Faruqui – 3 Girls 1 Guy

After the release of his debut rap album Madari, Munawar Faruqui has returned to his first love—standup comedy. He ended the half-year joke drought on his YouTube channel with a crowd work video titled 3 Girls 1 Guy.

The comedian has a certified “playa” in the crowd. The audience is more interested in the man’s game instead of Faruqui’s humour. But dealing with tough crowds is the first chapter in a comedian’s handbook. Faruqui gets back the attention with some zingers at the South Mumbai guy’s expense. You have to see the master at work yourself.

Jeeya Sethi – Exercise

Jeeya Sethi completed a decade in the standup comedy industry last week. And what better way to celebrate than drop her first clip of 2023. The last time we saw her in action, she was setting the Laughing Dead stage on fire and she’s back at it with another high-energy set.

In her trademark style, Sethi is calling out the patriarchy one subtle joke at a time. She’s also included a lesson on how to sit at comedy shows. Spoiler alert: crossing your arms is not included in the list and can result in some heavy-duty roasting. To keep things topical, she turns her comedic gaze towards people’s obsession with exercising. If you’re a homebody who is tired of your gym-bro buddies telling you to “push your limits”, borrow a line or two from this set. You gotta watch it for that, duh.

Kunal Kamra – PADHE LIKHE YA SOCHE SAMJHE

Kunal Kamra has been releasing video after video for the last two weeks. He might look a little different but his jokes still hit hard and take aim at the people in power. Last week, he dropped part 5 of his series titled Padhe Likhe Ya Soche Samjhe. As usual, Kamra is dropping truth bombs with a matter-of-fact cadence which makes his jokes a lot funnier.

Enrolling in an MBA program is a rite of passage for most Indians. So it’s no shocker that Kamra has one in his audience. But he’s actually managing a business and not working for a bank? That is something that throws Kamra off guard. And gives him enough material to mine out of this one anomaly. Check out the video now!

Prashasti Singh – Retired Romantic

YouTube is the latest hangout for all the comedians and their comedy specials. Prashasti Singh has joined that gang by releasing her special Door Khadi Sharmaaye on the ‘Tube in a four-part series. The first one of the lot dropped on 6 June and has been making the rounds in the comedy circuit. Last week, she returned with the second instalment titled Retired Romantic. No points for guessing that Singh’s special is centred around that crazy stupid thing called love.

The latest clip might hit a little close to home if you’ve ever been shocked by a wedding invitation from the most toxic couple you know. In an ideal world, they would realise their mistakes and move on. But we don’t live in no ideal world. And that makes for great content. We get to see Singh’s evolution from being a hopeless romantic to an outright cynic in this 10-minute clip. The comedian also reveals that she shares some similarities with Deepika Padukone. Don’t believe us? Check out the video.

Tanmay Bhat – INDIA’S BEST COACHING CENTER PT 2

Indian YouTube’s most familiar faces, The OG Gang—consisting of Tanmay Bhat, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Vishal Dayama, Rohan Joshi and Nishant Tanwar—are back with some bangin’ memes. We’ve all seen the sacrilegious “food” videos on Instagram. Fanta Maggi, masala dosa ice cream, gold flake omelette (yes, all of these are real). Unfortunately, there’s a lot more where this came from and the gang reacts to these viral food reels. It’s not easy to watch people vandalise food for views but the comedians make it an enjoyable experience. Check out the video now!
