The summer of 2023 was recorded as the hottest summer in the Northern Hemisphere of the last 2000 years, according to a study published in Nature, the world’s leading multidisciplinary science journal. This year, the heat has been equally unrelenting (if not worse), claiming the lives of 77 individuals in India over the last two weeks, as reported by CNN. A weather station in Mungeshpur, a suburb of New Delhi, registered a record-high temperature of 52.3 degrees Celsius on 29 May, according to the India Meteorological Department. During these times, the importance of putting measures in place to curtail climate change and raising awareness can’t be stressed enough. And what better day to remind people of this than World Environment Day.

Standup comedy is a great way to inform people about various pressing issues and comedians have always been aware of that. They’ve used the stage to talk about identity, discrimination, politics and climate change. So, as you sit in the comfort of your air-conditioned room, here are some of the best clips by comedians from across the globe that take aim at climate change and its drastic effects.
