“So hypothetically, if I were to be a part of a spinoff of a popular sitcom, hypothetically….”, is how we imagine Vir Das would announce this news. But we’re here to tell you straight up that he’s being cast opposite Preity Zinta in a guest episode of ABC’s Fresh Off The Boat.

You can also expect an entire spinoff series of FOTB called Magic Motor Inn, starring Das and Zinta as an immigrant family soon.

After a world tour, a Netflix special, a travel series on Amazon Prime and other “hypothetical” projects running this year, we’d expect Das to maybe, relax, but no chance.

Of course it isn’t his first time being cast opposite a leading Bollywood actress since he has already featured in several movies like Go Goa Gone, Badmaash Company, Delhi Belly, and one we’d like to leave out of this list for everyone’s sake.

The Indian comedy scene has several comedians acting in either their own projects like Biswa Kalyan Rath in Laakhon Mein Ek and Sumukhi Suresh in Pushpavalli and we’ve had a successful Indian spinoff of The Office running on Hotstar, so we can’t wait to see where another spinoff project with a comedian as a lead actor goes!
