Vir Das has been MIA. And everyone’s noticed.

We know he’s just been in London because he shared a photo of a polka-dotted van called Betty on his Instagram, besides posters of his shows at the Soho Theatre. This year he’s also been touring Sydney, Dallas, shooting the first of the two new 2019 specials he’s signed on for with Netflix in San Francisco, holidaying in LA, delivering commencement speeches in exchange for an honorary doctorate at his alma mater Knox College in Illinois, and (phew!) shooting a movie in Prague.

Then on 9 Nov, he announced that a big announcement was coming. Given everything he’s been busy with all year, he could literally be announcing anything. So we waited. At 9 pm that day, he dropped a video we restarted 1800 times because it sounded like you were in bad network area—the audio kept cutting out:
